Privilege Causes Discrimination

Let’s talk about how cisgender black women, who subscribe to western christianity, that is white supremacist ideology, are problematic and embrace a deep-rooted disdain, under the guise of “moral correctness” for the LGBTQ community — yet appropriate their aesthetic and idioms.

It always amazes me when religious radicals are “biblically competent” while discussing sexual immorality but become deficient in mental grasp when it comes to the biblical exegesis of the rest of the sixty-five books of the bible.

As a heterosexual black women, assigned as female at birth, I recognize that I have privilege. I understand that I have access to privilege within the “black church” that someone of the LGBTQ community may not have — and that’s the privilege to take up space.

My privilege causes discrimination when I ignorantly choose to spew intolerant doctrine that denies human rights or oppress marginalized communities.

If we’re truly studying the gospel of Jesus Christ, and look at it from an apologetic scope, we’ll see that most of the passages written are inclusively contextualized. Most of us have a hard time converting members of the LGBTQ community because we teach from a privileged and elitist point of view — which leads some to believe that the kingdom of God is some esoteric hierarchy.

So when our brothers and sisters of the LGBTQ community reject Christendom they have every right to because we are teaching it wrong.

…and I don’t blame them.
